This is A Nice Shelllll

During one visit to Seattle with the girls, Laura decided to cook up some crabs for us. She bought them live – if it would have been crabbing season, she would have jumped on her paddle board with her crab pot and caught them herself, because that’s something she does.

When it was time to cook the crabs, she invited us outside to see the humane way to kill one, which is not to boil it alive. She held it in one hand, turned it over, showed the kiddos some of the interesting anatomy of the crab, then in one fell swoop ripped the shell clean off- killing it instantly in a pretty gnarly display. We all learned a lot that day – about crabs, and about Laura.
