I found this recipe many years ago in Gourmet magazine. It can be made in about 5 minutes in one bowl and is delicious. It’s a great cake to make when dinner guests are arriving and you realize you forgot about dessert.
Faith
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter and flour a 9×2″ round cake pan.
Mix together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda and salt in a medium bowl.
Combine buttermilk, oil and vanilla. Add to dry ingredients and mix until combined.
Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 30 minutes, or until a tester comes out clean. Let cool for 5 minutes before turning out of pan.
